FAQ

Q: How long does it take to make my carved sign?

A: It depends on the type of material, number of colors, and complexity of the design. Most custom signs typically take about three to six weeks from design to completion. For a PVC sign when the background color is white, or a natural wood sign can typically be completed in about a week. An estimated delivery date will be given at the time of the order.

Q: How much will a carved sign cost?

A: The cost will normally start at $125.00 and go up from there depending on the overall size, color, design complexity and if the sign is gilded with 23kt gold or silver leaf. Contact us with your project details and receive a free preliminary estimate.

Q: How will I know what my sign will look like?

A: We will send you a proof via email, within a day or two to view exactly how your sign will look, this is the point where any changes can easily be made. We don’t start carving your sign until the final layout is exactly what you want and approved by you!

Q: Which is better wood or HDU (high density urethane)

A: HDU or also called Sign Foam is a composite material that is totally waterproof and unaffected by the sun or insects. HDU is also available in large sheets making fabrication of your sign most efficient. Wood signs can be beautiful and just right for particular applications. However, there are a few drawer backs to using wood for your sign. Wood can be affected by the elements and has a tendency to crack, split and cup over time. Preparations of wood signs generally raise the cost of making the sign depending on what is needed. The preparation may include custom glue-ups of several boards to attain the desired size and design. Priming and painting or other finishing methods also adds additional cost to making your sign.

Q: Is PVC a good material to use for a sign?

A:  Yes definitely! Its one of the best for exterior applications, and especially when the background color can be white. It’s virtually maintenance free, the background will not fade or ever need to be painted. Wiping off any dust that may accumulate over time will be the only thing needed. In time the carved area’s may need to be touched up (depending on exposure) but not for a very long time.

Q: Can I have a sign made that I don’t see on the web site?

A: Yes of course, we will work with you on coming up with the unique one of a kind look that you’re after. Typically a conversation will help us understand your specific needs along with discussing a rough estimate.  Then I’m able to come up with a couple preliminary design for your review, at  this point the design layout is refined based on your input. Then with your final approval the fun begins and its off to production.
